Typing this entry brings me back to the day I wrote such a long complaint letter to the General Manager of Pangkor Island Beach Resort (which until this very day, I received no reply from him).. Ok, let me start with nice things that we experienced during this trip and I will follow with WHY I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS RESORT after that..
We sent Little D off during school holiday to her ever inviting Tok Ma and Tok Abah and we managed a short so called honeymoon trip to Pangkor.. We stayed in Pangkor Island Beach Resort... (previously known as Pan Pacific Resort).. Room was okay and the beach was superb!.. The resort has it's own private beach and memang cantik.. I must say that it was such a beautiful property but that's it! Full stop!
Now I will tell you why I do not and will not recommend this resort to anyone.. Apart from the great beach and an okay room, nothing else was good there... Service, I must say it sucks to the floor level!! Staffs are the rudest I've ever come across... Well, maybe be cos I myself am a hotelier, I can't help but to compare... tapi Masya Allah... service can very well be better...
It started with our check in.. can you imagine the very beginning at the point of check in I was already pissed... but never mind... When we arrived (very well after 3pm, the supposed check in time), we were told that our room is still not ready because they had heavy departure... tak pa, being a hotelier I can understand.. So, we registered in and I asked for the coffee house since we have to wait for the room. We were told that it was on lower level... we were told ok, that means we have to go there ourselves.. still ok... we can manage... but what about the luggage, can we keep somewhere? I asked.. to my surprise the answer that came back was, yeah, you can keep it behind the counter.. and best part hubby had to do it himself, no assistance at all!
Still never mind... had our lunch and head to our room.. we were not call when the room was ready ok, we had to come up to the lobby and asked as always.. Room was nice & ok, facing the sea bla bla bla... Honestly, I like it...
That night we went out for dinner... had seafood of course and back to the room at about 11.30pm. When I was about to charge my camera I noticed that the charger was missing... Search my bags and hubby's but no where to be found... So I thought I must have left it in the coffee house sebab we took pictures there... So, I press this one button, so called help button that will link me everywhere I wish to go..
The operator who answered the phone was the rudest of all.. suffice to say that she had ruin my night... I do not want to dwell on how the conversation ends but the charger, confirm missing..
I thought the unpleasant experience will stop after that, but wait! there's actually more to come... we borrowed the DVD player from the reception and to our surprise they sent it to our room. Nak jadik cerita when we returned the player (ourselves!), our CD tertinggal kat dalam.. so again the agony of having to press the help button started.. True enough, I had to endure a suffering pain before I can get my anger leashed out to the duty manager... He had an earful from me and he apologises profusely, yet I still had to take the CD myself! Reason being, tak cukup manpower at the reception... Is that really my problem??
Honestly I cannot expect a 5 star city hotel service... well, to be honest I can't expect my hotel kind of service... but to me it's something very basic... Basic sangat sangat dalam hotel industry.. tapi tu lah... what we experienced some what or rather spoilt our trip... When we came back to KL, I wrote a very long email (never in my working life have I wrote such long email !) to the GM and regret to say that I have not heard from him till to date...
